Origin

The hentai is inspired on Bible Black -La noche de walpurgis- (バイブルブラック), an eroge produced by Active and released on July 14, 2000.

The production company Milky Animation Label released its first animated episode on July 21, 2001. With a total of six OVAs, the animated series ended on June 25, 2003

Story

Minase, a high school student, found a book of magic in an isolated room in his school. He started practicing black magic that has extreme sexual effects that benefited him and some of his friends. Intrigued, Minase got deeper and deeper into using the craft, not realizing the evils that will come forth. Eventually, the origins of the book was revealed, and so did the incident twelve years ago on the night of the Walpurgis, the night when the power of evil is at its strongest. After coming to his senses, Minase struggles to get himself out of the darkness that he had put himself into.

Reception

Bible Black received an extraordinary reception in Japan, becoming one of the most successful hentai series in history.

Its impact overseas was even greater. Thanks to its immense popularity, it came to be regarded by many as the most popular and influential adult animated series of all time.

Even more than two decades after its debut, Bible Black remains a landmark of the genre and continues to be considered by many fans as the greatest hentai of all time.

The Bible Black animated franchise consists of the following series: Bible Black (2001), the original work; Bible Black Origins (2002), its prequel; Bible Black: New Testament (2004), a sequel set ten years after the events of Bible Black; and Bible Black Only (2005), a spin-off starring several secondary characters.
Bible Black: New Testament is a non-canon sequel of the original eroge.
On June 25, 2008, Sei Shoujo, the creator of the original eroge, released the official sequel titled Bible Black -The Infection-.
Bible Black -The Infection- takes place several months after the ending of the original Bible Black eroge and follows the mysterious and unexpected return of Reika Kitami, who had died at the end of the game.
Outside Japan, Bible Black was officially distributed uncensored in several countries, including the United States, Spain, France, and Germany.
It has long been rumored that Bible Black received an official Latin American Spanish dub that was never released. However, due to inconsistencies in the story and the lack of solid evidence, it is unlikely that such a dub ever existed.
The title Bible Black is a reference to the song “Starless and Bible Black” by the British progressive rock band King Crimson. Likewise, the Starless eroge series, created by the same author, also takes its name from this song.
The occult chants heard in some scenes are not entirely fictional. They include real phrases associated with Kabbalistic traditions, such as “Sazaz Sazaz Andatsan Sazaz” played in reverse. In the original Japanese version, one scene even features a perverted invocation of Jesus, although this was censored in some official overseas releases.
In Japan, the story is set in a high school, but in some Western versions the setting was changed to a college in an attempt to soften the implications regarding the characters’ ages.
During the heyday of LimeWire and Ares, a popular internet anecdote claimed that many users accidentally downloaded episodes of Bible Black while searching for content related to the Bible.
Due to the franchise’s immense popularity, Fever Dreams, in collaboration with Media Blasters, once planned to produce a live-action Bible Black film. However, the project was ultimately canceled.
Bible Black also has a parody series titled Bible Black Abridged, which removes all sexual content and replaces it with comedy for publication on YouTube.
The DVD releases contain several hidden Easter eggs. For example, on the third disc, selecting one of Imari’s hair accessories unlocks a special bonus feature.
In France, Bible Black was broadcast on the television channel MCM during a program hosted by former adult actress Katsuni. However, the Conseil supérieur de l’audiovisuel (CSA) strongly criticized the series, describing it as pornographic and extremely violent, which ultimately led to its removal from the channel’s programming.
In Germany, Bible Black was placed on the BPjM index of media harmful to minors in 2002 because of its pornographic and violent content.
