The hentai is based on CLEAVAGE (クレイヴィジ, 双峰), an eroge produced by Empress that was released on February 18, 2005.

Media Bank, under its White Bear label, released its first OVA on February 24, 2006, and concluded the series on the 23rd of the same year with its second episode.

Story

When their father is given a transfer, Todo Yuto and Todo Erika are left alone. They are siblings, but they are not blood related. When Yuto was a child, his mother died. His father remarried a woman who, herself, had a child from a previous relationship, Erika. His stepmother was quite gentle, but she, too, has since passed away. Living alone, they begin to love each other as a man and a woman. However, an art teacher, Sayaka, notices their relationship and…

Reception

The exact level of success Cleavage achieved in Japan is unknown; however, it is believed to have reached considerable — though moderate — popularity.

Overseas, the series received a much stronger reception, especially after the release of its uncensored version and due to its controversial story centered on the relationship between two step-siblings and a teacher.

Despite the immense popularity it enjoyed years ago, interest in Cleavage has gradually declined over time. Nevertheless, it is still remembered today as a cult classic within the genre.

The hentai was animated by Studio9MAiami and directed by Kondou Takashi.
Cleavage was not only Empress’s first animated adaptation, but also its very first eroge.
Media Blasters released an uncensored version of the hentai under its Kitty Media label, which also featured an English dub.
Meanwhile, the distributor Trimax published a German version of Cleavage.
The series is also known as Die Super-Moepse in Germany and Décolletés Lubriques in France.
Much of its overseas success was due to the fact that the creators behind Bible Black and Discipline were also responsible for this work.
