Amakano Hentai Celebrates Its 10th Anniversary

Amakano, a romantic hentai from 2016, as been out for 10 years since its release.

Origin

The adult anime is based on Amakano (アマカノ), a vanilla eroge developed by Azarashi Soft and released on December 19, 2014.

The Mary Jane company released its first episode on February 5, 2016. This hentai concluded on January 6, 2017 with four animated episodes.

Story

It’s only the end of November and the hot springs town Yomase-machi was already a winter wonderland, having been dyed white from the falling snow. Yuuki moved to this snowy town to help his grandparents shovel snow at their home, the former boarding house Yamanouchi-sou. He met many warm-hearted people, including the shrine maiden Sayuki who worries about her inability to properly greet strangers, his mysterious but playful housemate and senpai Mizuki, and the local cafe’s cheerful and energetic kouhai mascot Koharu. Even though he was still feeling lost, he tried to get used to living in this snowy land. During that time, his grandfather suggested that he find love while he is still young and lead a new life in earnest. Now’s the time for him to take the first step and fall in love.

Reception

Amakano had a very strong reception in Japan, becoming one of the best-selling hentai of its release year according to the Getchu platform.

Overseas, it also gained considerable popularity thanks to its vanilla focus and strong romantic themes.

Even so, although Amakano was a solid romance title in its release year, over time it was overshadowed by PRETTY×CATION THE ANIMATION, another work in the same genre that debuted that same year and achieved a greater impact within the community.

Trivia

The hentai was animated by MoMo Production (MoMoプロダクション) and directed by Shishiryuu Tenma, an alias of director Kawai Makoto.
This was the only animated hentai produced by MoMo Production.
Amakano was the first eroge developed by Azarashi Soft.
The eroge later received a new version titled Amakano+, which includes additional story content and wedding endings.
