The previously released Rurouni Kenshin trailer has surpassed 2 million views on YouTube. The upcoming reboot of the anime will premiere in 2023. The main cast of the anime includes Soma Saito as Kenshin Himura and Rie Takashi as Karou Kamiya.
The new anime adaptation was announced during the Jump Festa 2022, which was held on December 19, 2021. Studio LIDENFILMS will animate the series. The new video features the show’s staff:

Rurouni Kenshin is a Japanese manga series written by Nobuhiro Watsuki. Shueisha published it in Weekly Shonen Jump magazine from 1994 to 1999, and it had a total of 28 volumes available. Kaworu Kurosaki, Watsuki’s wife is also writing a sequel manga titled Rurouni Kenshin: The Hokkaido Arc, with Watsuki as the illustrator. The same publisher has been serializing it since 2017, and as of now, it has 7 volumes in circulation.
Viz Media published the original Rurouni Kenshin manga series in English and described the plot as:
One hundred and forty years ago in Kyoto, with the coming of the American “Black Ships,” there arose a warrior who, felling men with his bloodstained blade, gained the name Hitokiri, manslayer! His killer blade helped close the turbulent Bakumatsu era and slashed open the progressive age known as Meiji. Then he vanished, and with the flow of years, became legend.
The series got an anime adaptation that ran from 1996 to 1998, and had a total of 95 episodes, adapting the manga from the start until the Kyoto Inferno arc. The franchise also received 5 live-action films from 2012 to 2021, which adapted the whole Rurouni Kenshin manga series, as well as the prequel OVA titled Rurouni Kenshin: Trust and Betrayal.
