The upcoming Tokyo Mew Mew New season 2 anime is set to premiere on April 4 this year. A key visual and a teaser trailer featuring the opening song have been revealed.
The opening song is titled “Megamorfoze” and sung by the Japanese idol group Smewthie. Meanwhile, the ending theme song is titled “ Can-do Dreamer” and performed by the same group. The main cast includes:
- Yuki Tenma as Ichigo
- Ryoko Jyuni as Lettuce
- Mirai Hinata as Mint
- Momoka Ishi as Zakuro
- Rian Toda as Fong Pudding
Graphinica and Yumeta Company return to animate the second season, under the direction of Takahiro Natori. Yuka Yamada is doing the series composition, Satoshi Ishino on the character designs, Yasuharu Takanashi is composing the music, and Toshiki Kameyama is the sound director.
The first season of Tokyo Mew Mew New aired from July 6 to September 21, 2022. It is a reboot of the original Tokyo Mew Mew anime, which aired for 52 episodes from 2002 to 2003. Studio Pierrot animated the original anime.
The anime is based on the Tokyo Mew Mew manga, which started serialization in 2002. The manga was written by Reiko Yoshida, while Mia Ikumi did the art. The manga ran from 2000 to 2003, with a sequel titled Tokyo Mew Mew a la Mode that started in 2003 and ended in 2004. The sequel was written and illustrated by Mia Ikumi. Tokyo Mew Mew: 2020 Re-Turn – a 2-chapter sequel to the original series, ran from 2019 to 2020, with Reiko Yoshida returning to write the story and Ikumi doing the art. Mia Ikumi passed away last year.
