My Hero Academia’s Mirko Celebrates New Year Dressed in Kimono

The official Twitter account of My Hero Academia anime released a happy new year visual with Rabbit Hero Mirko on Sunday. In the Japanese zodiac, 2023 is the year of Usagi (rabbit/hare). Studio Bones is animating the ongoing sixth season and the second cour will begin on January 7, 2023.

The new visual features Rabbit Hero Mirko, whose real name is Rumi Usagiyama, dressed in Kimono with a rabbit design. She is making a rabbit sign with her hands. Above her can be seen written text “HAPPY NEW HERO’S YEAR” in red, and “2023” in black.

Animation studio Bones is animating the My Hero Academia anime series based on Kohei Horikoshi’s manga of the same name being serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump. The series published the latest, 36th, volume on October 4, 2022.  The 6th season has been airing every Saturday since October 1 in Japan. Viz Media licensed the manga and released the latest, 32nd, volume on October 4, 2022. The 33rd volume is available for pre-order and the release date is set for February 7, 2023. The official website describes the plot of the first volume as:
Middle school student Izuku Midoriya wants to be a hero more than anything, but he hasn’t got an ounce of power in him. With no chance of ever getting into the prestigious U.A. High School for budding heroes, his life is looking more and more like a dead end. Then an encounter with All Might, the greatest hero of them all, gives him a chance to change his destiny…
