Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury anime released short trailers ahead of the release of the first volume for the Blu-ray (BD) special limited edition and DVD products, scheduled for March 24, 2023. The special limited edition is available at the price of ¥9,680 (≒$76), while the DVD volume is ¥6,380 (≒$50). The release compiles four episodes, the first three episodes along with the “PROLOGUE” episode. The anime will have a total of 8 volumes.
The newly-released trailers come in two versions, 30 seconds and 15 seconds, with Suletta Mercury and Miorine Rembran’s commentaries and the anime’s opening theme song “The Blessing” by YOASOBI. Kana Ichinose (Maki Shijo in Kaguya-sama: Love Is War) is voicing Suletta Mercury while Lynn (Mafuyu Kirisu in We Never Learn) is playing the role of Miorine Rembran in the Gundam anime adaptation.
“You’ll take responsibility for this! You hypocritical loser of a father!” Suletta imitates the Miorine’s lines at the beginning of the 30-second version, and Miorine joins by asking what Suletta is watching. She answers that it is the anime’s BD and begins to promote the products including the DVD. Miorine asks if the first two lines are meant to sound like her and Suletta responds by saying that she wants to nicely present it, just like Miorine. She manages to receive a calm and positive comment, unlike in the 15-second version.
Sunrise is producing the Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury anime under Hiroshi Kobayashi’s direction, with Ichiro Okochi’s scripts. The anime’s broadcast schedule is split into two cours: the first cour premiered in October 2022 and ended with the 12th episode on January 8. The second cour is slated for April 2023. Crunchyroll is streaming the anime and describes the plot as:
A.S. (Ad Stella) 122― An era when a multitude of corporations have entered space and built a huge economic system. A lone girl from the remote planet Mercury transfers to the Asticassia School of Technology, run by the Beneritt Group which dominates the mobile suit industry. Her name is Suletta Mercury. With a scarlet light burning in her pure heart, this girl walks step by step through a new world.
