The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel – Northern War revealed a new trailer along with the opening theme song “The story so far” by Chisato Akita (MIT GATHERING).
Studio Tatsunoko Production is in charge of the production, with Hidekazu Sato as the director. The first trailer was revealed in September, along with a visual. The premiere is set for January 8, 2023. The main staff includes:

- Yuichi Nakamura as Martin S. Robinson
- Emi Bridcutt as Iseria Frost
- Yuki Ono as Talion Drake
- Inori Minase as Altina
- Takayuki Kondo as Rogan

The anime is inspired by the 2013 RPG developed by Nihon Falcom. The plot is described as:
The year 1205 of the Septian Calendar.
Lavian is a young girl born and raised in North Ambria, the poorest region in the northwestern part of the Zemurian continent. In order to protect her hometown and prove that she is different from her grandfather Vlad, who was once revered as a hero but betrayed North Ambria, she volunteered to join the “Northern Hunters,” the largest and most renowned hunting party on the continent, and carry out her duties.
One day, Lavian, who had repeatedly violated discipline in his devotion to his duties, is ordered to form a platoon with Martin, Iseria, and Talion on a foolhardy reconnaissance mission to the Erebonian Empire.
In order to obtain information on the unknown “Hero of the Empire” who threatens North Ambria…
