Upcoming Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Season 2 anime released a new teaser visual along with information that Yumi Uchiyama will continue to voice the role of Rudeus Greyrat. On the day, the anime had an event to screen five of the best episodes picked by fans in celebration of the second season’s broadcast in 2023. Studio Bind is animating the sequel, which revealed the first trailer earlier this year.
The event was a part of TOHO animation’s 10th-anniversary project, TOHO animation THEATER FES. The voice actors for the main character, Yumi Uchiyama (Rudeus Greyrat) and Tomokazu Sugita (former-self), made appearances on the stage to greet after the screening. The five episodes that were chosen are listed as follows:
- Episode 2 “Master“
- Episode 16 “Family Squabble“
- Episode 17 “Reunion“
- Episode 21 “Turning Point 2“
- Episode 23 “Wake Up and Take a Step“
Rifujin na Magonote’s Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation was originally serialized as a web novel on the Shosetsuka ni Naro website from November 2012 to April 2015. Kadokawa picked up the series and has been publishing it as a light novel with art by Shirotaka under the company’s MEDIA FACTORY and Frontier Works’ novel label MF Books since 2014. The light novel series released the first compiled volume in January 2014 and ended with the 26th volume on November 25, 2022. The light novel inspired an anime adaptation by StudioBind; the first season was split into two cours with a total of 23 episodes. The first part aired from January to March 2021 and the second part from October to December of the same year. The fourth volume of Blu-ray compiles an unaired episode, which is available on Crunchyroll.
Seven Seas Entertainment licensed the light novel in English and describes the plot as:
Just when an unemployed thirty-four-year-old otaku reaches a dead end in life and decides that it’s time to turn over a new leaf—he gets run over by a truck and dies! Shockingly, he finds himself reborn into an infant’s body in a strange, new world of swords and magic. His new identity is Rudeus Grayrat, but he still retains the memories of his previous life. Follow Rudeus from infancy to adulthood, as he struggles to redeem himself in a wondrous yet dangerous world..
