The Eminence in Shadow episode 4 preview images and teaser trailers have been released. Episode 4 will air on October 26, 2022, and we will learn more about the kidnappers of Alexia Midgar from the previous episode. The original members of the Shadow Garden will also return.

The Eminence in Shadow premiered on October 5. Studio Nexus is animating the series, while Kazuya Nakanishi is directing. You can watch the show on HIDIVE.

Enterbrain has been serializing Daisuke Aizawa’s The Eminence in Shadow (Kage no Jitsuryokusha ni Naritakute!) light novel series with Tōzai’s illustrations since November 2018, and it currently has 4 volumes in circulation. A manga adaptation by Anri Sakano is being published by Kadokawa Shoten, and as of now, it has 7 volumes in circulation. The same publisher is serializing a spin-off manga titled Kage no Jitsuryokusha ni Naritakute! Shadow Gaiden, and it has 2 volumes as we speak. Yen Press licensed the original The Eminence in Shadow light novel series in English and describes the plot as:
Even in his past life, Cid’s dream wasn’t to become a protagonist or a final boss. He’d rather lie low as a minor character until it’s prime time to reveal he’s a mastermind…or at least, do the next best thing-pretend to be one! And now that he’s been reborn into another world, he’s ready to set the perfect conditions to live out his dreams to the fullest. Armed with his overactive imagination, Cid jokingly recruits members to his organization and makes up a whole backstory about an evil cult that they need to take down. Well, as luck would have it, these imaginary adversaries turn out to be the real deal-and everyone knows the truth but him!
