Tengen Uzui Gets Birthday Illustration by Ufotable

Studio ufotable drew a birthday illustration for Demon Slayer‘s Tengen Uzui – the Sound Hashira. The illustration features Tengen and his wives. A special trailer was posted by for his birthday by Jump’s Official YouTube channel on the same day.

The newly-released image shows sake-drinking Tengen Uzui celebrated by his three wives; Makio (left) is sitting right next to him and holding a Tokkuri sake bottle. Suma (center) is jumping with a big smile on her face and showering her husband with flower petals, whileHinatsuru (right) is looking at her with a worried face and trying to feed the newly aged man. The letters behind them covered with the petals in the head means “celebration”, while the texts on both sides say “October 31- Tengen Uzui was born”.

The Sound Hashira made his first appearance in the manga’s 21st chapter. In the anime adaptation, Katsuyuki Konishi (Kamina in Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann) voiced the character in original Japanese. Shizuka Ishigami (Kajo Ayame in Shimoseka) voiced Makio, Nao Toyama (Chitoge Kirisaki in Nisekoi) played Suma, and Atsumi Tanezaki (Anya Forger in Spy x Family) acted as Hinatsuru.

Demon SlayerKimetsu no Yaiba is a shonen manga series serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump from February 2016 to May 2020. It ended with a total of 23 volumes, which surpassed 150 million circulating copies. The manga inspired anime adaptation by ufotable; the first season (Tanjiro Kamado Unwavering Resolve Arc) aired from April to September 2019 with a total of 26 episodes. Mugen Train arc was first published as a movie and then later adapted into TV anime which aired from October to November 2021 with 7 episodes. This was directly followed by the third season (Entertainment District Arc) from December 21 to February 2022 with 11 episodes. The Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Mugen Train movie premiered in 2020 and broke the record of Japan’s highest-grossing film of all time. The anime’s Swordsmith Village Arc is currently in production and scheduled to release new information on December 10.
