The finale of Made in Abyss Season 2 (The Golden City of the Scorching Sun) received a preview ahead of the September 28 air date. As with the first season, we are getting a double-episode finale. Last week there was no new episode, but we left off with Faputa discovering a wish of her own. The upcoming episode is titled “Gold” and preview images for it are now available:
The plot of the episode is describes as:
Riko, Reg, and Nanachi evacuate with Majikaja and the others through the collapsing Village of the Hollows. On the way out, they are confronted by Wazukyan, who has collapsed and is unable to move. He asks Riko if she is happy to be there and then goes on to talk about what he wanted to accomplish. Meanwhile, Faputa who has been exposed to various new memories and values once again challenges the creatures that are attacking the village so that she can fulfill her role.

Kinema Citrus is animating the sequel to the anime adaptation of Akihito Tsukushi’s manga. Theme songs for the season include “Katachi” by Azuna Ruko (opening) and “Endless Embrace” by Myth & Roid (ending). HIDIVE is streaming the entirety of the anime series and describes the plot of the second season as:
There is no going back for Riko, Reg, and Nanachi, and the only way forward is to the bottom of the Abyss. However, the three friends weren’t the first to enter the unknown. Whatever happened to all the other explorers who braved the Abyss?
