On Sunday, during the live-streamed event “Kage-Jitsu Fes,” the highly anticipated second season of the television anime adaptation of Daisuke Aizawa’s light novel series, The Eminence in Shadow (Kage no Jitsuryokusha ni Naritakute!), unveiled its second promotional video. This video not only showcased thrilling new footage but also provided exciting details about the upcoming season. Among the revelations were the announcement of additional cast members, a confirmed premiere date in October, and the confirmation that the season will consist of 12 gripping episodes.

The second season of The Eminence in Shadow will see the return of the main staff, who will continue their work at the renowned studio Nexus. The highly successful first season of the anime initially premiered in October 2022 and concluded on February 15. Exciting news for fans is that HIDIVE, the streaming platform, has secured the rights to stream both the first and second seasons of the anime. This means that viewers can look forward to enjoying the second season as it becomes available on HIDIVE’s platform.
Kazuya Nakanishi, known for his work as the chief animation director on Darwin’s Game, has taken on the role of director for The Eminence in Shadow anime at Nexus, the studio behind Darwin’s Game and Granbelm. Makoto Iino, recognized for his contributions to Suppose a Kid From the Last Dungeon Boonies Moved to a Starter Town and Demon Lord, Retry!, is responsible for adapting Tōzai’s original character designs for animation. Kanichi Katou, known for his involvement in projects like Black Clover and Those Snow White Notes, is overseeing the series scripts. The talented Kenichiro Suehiro is handling the composition of the music.
Both the light novels and the manga adaptation of The Eminence in Shadow have been licensed by Yen Press. The captivating story by Aizawa initially debuted on the “Shōsetsuka ni Narō” (Let’s Become Novelists) website in May 2018, and Kadokawa started publishing the series in physical volumes with artwork by Tōzai, beginning with the first volume in November 2018. Anri Sakano launched the manga adaptation in Kadokawa’s Comp Ace magazine in December 2018. Additionally, Seta U created a spinoff manga titled Kage no Jitsuryokusha ni Naritakute! Shadow Gaiden (The Eminence in Shadow – Shadow Side Story), which premiered in Comp Ace in July 2019.
In November 2022, The Eminence in Shadow: Master of Garden game was launched for iOS, Android, and PC. Crunchyroll Games subsequently released the English version of the game.
