Code Geass Director Hiroyuki Opened New Anime Studio

On May 1st Monday, anime director and animator Hiroyuki Hashimoto took to Twitter to announce the founding of his new animation studio, Stepple. At present, the studio only comprises three members, including Hashimoto, and is not yet ready to take on new staff. However, the studio is expected to expand in the future. Hashimoto is currently accepting private messages from freelance animators and line directors who are interested in working with him.

Hashimoto is a renowned figure in the anime industry, having made his directorial debut with Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion in 2006, followed by his episode directorial debut with Basquash! in 2009. He has also worked on numerous other projects, such as Heaven’s Lost Property, Angel Beats!, Tiger & Bunny, Ben-To, and Accel World, among others.

His full anime directorial debut came in 2014 with Is the order a rabbit?, which he continued to direct in subsequent entries. He has also directed Magical Girl Raising Project, Classroom of the Elite, Slow Start, Laidbackers, Estab-Life: Great Escape, and Classroom of the Elite II. Hashimoto is set to direct Magical Girl Raising Project Restart. Prior to his directorial work, he worked as a key animator on several projects by Sunrise, J.C. Staff, and Madhouse.
