Mappa Stage 2023 took place on May 21, 2023, at the Tokyo Garden Theatre, featuring the cast and crew of various anime series. Among them were Chainsaw Man, Vinland Saga Season 2, Hell’s Paradise: Jigokuraku, Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2, Attack on Titan Final Season, and Campfire Cooking in Another World with my Absurd Skill. Unfortunately, fans of Mappa’s highly anticipated series Chainsaw Man were left disappointed during the event. Despite their hopes for a trailer or a release date for the second season of Tatsuki Fujimoto’s popular manga adaptation, no updates were provided on the project, leaving fans wanting more.
The Mappa Stage 2023 kicked off the introduction of Chainsaw Man with the lively entrance of a mascot dressed as Pochita, the devil. Following closely behind were the voice actors Kikonosuke Toya (Denji), Fairouz Ai (Power), and Shogo Sakata (Aki Hayakawa). Unfortunately, Tomori Kusunoki, the voice actor for Makima, couldn’t attend due to health reasons.

During the event, clips showcasing memorable scenes from the first season were telecasted. The cast members were tasked with randomly selecting these scenes from a bag, adding an element of excitement to the talk show. Meanwhile, fans were eagerly anticipating the release or any updates regarding a trailer or teaser for Chainsaw Man Season 2. The first season had left viewers hanging with a gripping cliffhanger in December 2022.
Fans’ hopes were fueled by a tweet from Mappa in December 2022 that simply stated “See you again,” accompanied by an image of Denji and Pochita. This cryptic message led to widespread speculation that the second season was already in production and would be unveiled soon. Therefore, the announcement of Mappa Stage 2023 brought immense excitement, as it seemed like the perfect platform to unveil any new information.
However, to the disappointment of the attendees, the event concluded with the cast showcasing live-action figures, dolls, and other merchandise featuring characters from the series. These items were made available for purchase online, catering to the devoted fans of the anime. While the cast and talk shows provided entertainment, the event fell short of expectations by failing to provide any updates or information regarding the production of the second season of the anime. in short, for now, there will be no Chainsaw Man Season 2.
