The original manga was first serialized in Kodansha’s Weekly Shōnen Magazine in August 2017 and concluded in February 2020.

The anime follows the story of Futaro Uesugi, a high school student who is hired to tutor the quintuplet sisters: Ichika, Nino, Miku, Yotsuba, and Itsuki. The sisters are initially uninterested in studying and have various personal issues that Futaro must help them overcome. As Futaro gets to know the sisters better, he begins to develop feelings for one of them, but the challenge of telling them apart makes it difficult to figure out which sister he truly likes.

The first season of the anime premiered in January 2019 and consisted of 12 episodes, while the second season aired from January to March 2021. In May 2022, “The Quintessential Quintuplets the Movie” was released in Japan, serving as the finale for the story. Crunchyroll began screening the film with English subtitles and an English dub in the United States and Canada on December 2.
